Andy Fyon PhD
Ottawa - Prior Director, Ontario Geological Survey, Ontario Ministry of Energy, Northern Development & Mines
I met Gord several years ago in my former capacity as former Director, Ontario Geological Survey (Ontario Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines). At that time, Gord and I engaged during a collaboration with a First Nation band in northern Ontario. During, and after that collaboration, I saw first hand Gord’s ability to work with respect in a complex cultural and operational environment, involving Indigenous people, private sector, academe, and Government. His understanding of the complex business and cultural drivers is an asset when working with Indigenous people, companies, academe, and Government. He demonstrated the ability to bridge between, and work effectively with, a range of individual, community, company, and institutional cultures to achieve desired outcomes. He has a team approach. He has a sound knowledge of the environment and its ecology. Importantly, Gord is inquisitive about the natural world around him and the threats to its ecology. When he encounters a knowledge gap, he fills that gap using a variety of learning techniques. He remains informed about technology relevant to the environmental science, and its application to a ecological questions. Gord is an ethical gentleman, is a pleasure to collaborate with, and is committed to making a difference.
